Recently, I’ve posted a few tips to help during your review of how you prevent fraud. I hope they are helpful. Here’s another tip. Prevention in your business, although something that will take some of your time, will really help reduce the risks you face. Is there a perception of detection of any wrongdoing publicised to your employees? Fraud can flourish when employees believe they won’t be caught. Discussing and maintaining transparency about the anti-fraud controls an organisation has in place, is a great way to prevent fraud from occurring. Showing employees that your organisation actively seeks out fraudulent conduct through surprise fraud audits, monitoring software and fraud assessments send the message that if any fraud is occurring, it will be found. This can greatly diminish the “opportunity” portion of the Fraud Triangle. Please let me know if you need any help or advice. Are you actively seeking out dishonest conduct in your business?
